Why I Like Sveltia CMS — And How It's Faster Than Decap
Git-CMS is convenient for blogs and Jamstack sites. If you're a blogger-developer working with Svelte, Sveltia CMS is definitely worth trying. Clean interface, performance, and ability to migrate from Decap with minimal effort.
What is Sveltia CMS?
It's a headless CMS rewritten from scratch in Svelte. It didn't inherit old Decap/Netlify code, so it's simpler, faster, and supported by an active community. Already over 1600 stars on GitHub, regular commits, and v0.93.2 release in August 2025.
Why it's really great
Fast and compact
Frontend weighs ≈300 KB, noticeably less than Decap (≈1.5 MB). No virtual DOM — everything flies.
User-friendly interface, without excess
Welcoming UX with dark theme and touch device support. Interface improved by UX engineer, and bugs are fixed quickly.
i18n done right
Full multilingual support with automatic translation — convenient for multilingual blogs.
Media work without pain
File manager library with drag-and-drop, folders, filters, plus integrations with Pexels, Unsplash, and Pixabay.
Migration — simple as that
Change one line in <script>
— and everything works. Decap config usually remains valid.
Rapidly developing
Already closed hundreds of bugs. GA version 1.0 expected by end of 2025.
Edit from phone — and it's OK
You can blog directly from GitHub Pages and Cloudflare Workers — without Netlify Identity, without PC
What's not perfect yet
Sveltia is still in beta — no presentation site, missing custom widgets, preview, and project creation from scratch. And yes, it's oriented towards Svelte — universal option for different frameworks isn't perfect yet.
Others' opinions
"Pleasant interface and convenience of working with GitHub really make blogging easier. Would like slightly better mobile adaptation, but these are minor details" — honest and to the point.
Suits you if...
- You're a blogger-developer on Svelte already using Decap — migration will take a minute.
- You want simple and pleasant UX without unnecessary clicks.
- You work with GitHub Pages and don't want to drag OAuth chains.
In conclusion
Sveltia CMS is a warm, lightweight, and fast Git-CMS with good i18n, convenient UX, and active development. Especially for Svelte developers and bloggers — really worth trying. And 1.0 stability will make it even cooler. Why not start today?
